This week, I will be brave and share a recipe that I made up… sort of. Actually, it’s a conglomeration of several crock-pot recipes that I have tried. So, here it is – hope you like it! (Sorry, I don’t have a picture of this one…) And if you would rather let someone else do the cooking, scroll down to check out some restaurant deals!
LEAH’S CREAMY CROCK-POT CHICKEN
1 ½ to 2 lbs. boneless, skinless chicken breast (fat trimmed off)
8 oz. sour cream
1 can cream of mushroom soup (or other condensed cream soup)
1 can sliced mushrooms
¾ c. white cooking wine
2 tbsp. dried minced onion
1 tbsp. garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste (optional)
Combine all ingredients except chicken in the crockpot. Add chicken, pushing it down into the sauce mixture to make sure each piece is covered. Cook on high for 1 hour, then on low for 3 hours. Serve over pasta, if desired.
(Tip: I wouldn’t use cream of celery soup. I don’t think that flavor would blend as well with the other ingredients.)
Enjoy!!!!! If you try this recipe, be sure to comment and let us know how your family liked it!
RESTAURANT NEWS AND DEALS:
* Arby‘s has expanded their kid’s meal menu! Some of the new offerings are turkey and cheese sandwich, Kraft mac-n-cheese, and apple slices with strawberry yogurt dipping sauce. But the new menu items aren’t the best part! According to the Arby’s website, “For every Kids Meal purchased a donation is made to the Arby’s Foundation, which has partnered with Share our Strength’s No Kid Hungry Campaign to eliminate child hunger in America by 2015.” Now that’s a great way to feed your family, and help feed a child in need at the same time!
* Restaurant.com is offering their $25 gift certificates for just $2 when you use the code TOUCHDOWN at checkout. It is good until October 16th.
Plus you can go through Shop at Home and earn 25% cash back. And if you are a new member, you will get a $5 bonus on top of the cash back! Just sign up here and after logging in, search for the store in the search box and follow the link to the store’s homepage and proceed with your order like normal. (Thanks to Couponing to Disney for this info!)
Have a great weekend, and remember to “say grace” before your meals, especially when dining out. Not only are you showing respect and gratitude to our Heavenly Father for our blessings, but it is a wonderful testimony of faith to unbelievers around us. (And I have had several Christian servers tell me that they feel encouraged in their faith when they see restaurant patrons pray over their meals.)
